창세기 25
아브라함의 다른 자손
1 아브라함이 다시 아내를 맞아들였는데, 그의 이름은 그두라이다. 2그와 아브라함 사이에서 시므란과 욕산과 므단과 미디안과 이스박과 수아가 태어났다. 3욕산은 스바와 드단을 낳았다. 드단의 자손에게서 앗수르 사람과 르두시 사람과 르움미 사람이 갈라져 나왔다. 4미디안의 아들은 에바와 에벨과 하녹과 아비다와 엘다아인데, 이들은 모두 그두라의 자손이다. 5아브라함은 자기 재산을 모두 이삭에게 물려 주고, 6첩들에게서 얻은 아들들에게도 한 몫씩 나누어 주었는데, 그가 죽기 전에 첩들에게서 얻은 아들들을 동쪽 곧 동방 땅으로 보내어서, 자기 아들 이삭과 떨어져서 살게 하였다.
아브라함이 세상을 떠나다
7 아브라함이 누린 햇수는 모두 백일흔다섯 해이다. 8아브라함은 자기가 받은 목숨대로 다 살고, 아주 늙은 나이에 기운이 다하여서, 숨을 거두고 세상을 떠나, 조상들이 간 길로 갔다. 9그의 아들 이삭과 이스마엘이 그를 막벨라 굴에 안장하였다. 그 굴은 마므레 근처, 헷 사람 소할의 아들 에브론의 밭에 있다. 10그 밭은 아브라함이 헷 사람에게서 산 것이다. 바로 그 곳에서 아브라함은 그의 아내 사라와 합장되었다. 11아브라함이 죽은 뒤에, 하나님은 아브라함의 아들 이삭에게 복을 주셨다. 그 때에 이삭은 브엘라해로이 근처에서 살고 있었다.
이스마엘의 자손
12 사라의 여종인 이집트 사람 하갈과 아브라함 사이에서 태어난 아들 이스마엘의 족보는 이러하다. 13이스마엘의 아들들의 이름을 태어난 순서를 따라서 적으면, 다음과 같다. 이스마엘의 맏아들은 느바욧이다. 그 아래는 게달과 앗브엘과 밉삼과 14미스마와 두마와 맛사와 15하닷과 데마와 여두르와 나비스와 게드마가 있다. 16이 열둘은 이스마엘이 낳은 아들의 이름이면서, 동시에 마을과 부락의 이름이며, 또한 이 사람들이 세운 열두 지파의 통치자들의 이름이기도 하다. 17이스마엘은 모두 백서른일곱 해를 누린 뒤에, 기운이 다하여서 숨을 거두고, 세상을 떠나 조상에게로 돌아갔다. 18그의 자손은 모두 하윌라로부터 수르 지방에 이르는 그 일대에 흩어져서 살았다. 수르는 이집트의 동북쪽 경계 부근 앗시리아로 가는 길에 있다. 그들은 모든 형제들과는 적대감을 가지고 살았다.
에서와 야곱이 태어나다
19다음은 아브라함의 아들 이삭의 족보이다. 아브라함이 이삭을 낳았고, 20이삭은 마흔 살 때에 리브가와 결혼하였다. 리브가는 밧단아람의 아람 사람인 브두엘의 딸이며, 아람 사람인 라반의 누이이다. 21이삭은 자기 아내가 임신하지 못하므로, 아내가 아이를 가지게 해 달라고 주님께 기도하였다. 주님께서 이삭의 기도를 들어 주시니, 그의 아내 리브가가 임신하게 되었다. 22그런데 리브가는 쌍둥이를 배었는데, 그 둘이 태 안에서 서로 싸웠다. 그래서 리브가는 “이렇게 괴로워서야, 내가 어떻게 견디겠는가?” 하면서, 이 일을 알아보려고 주님께로 나아갔다. 23주님께서 그에게 대답하셨다.
“두 민족이 너의 태 안에 들어 있다.
너의 태 안에서
두 백성이 나뉠 것이다.
한 백성이 다른 백성보다
강할 것이다.
형이 동생을 섬길 것이다.”
24달이 차서, 몸을 풀 때가 되었다. 태 안에는 쌍둥이가 들어 있었다. 25먼저 나온 아이는 살결이 붉은데다가 온몸이 털투성이어서, 이름을 에서라고 하였다. 26이어서 동생이 나오는데, 그의 손이 에서의 발뒤꿈치를 잡고 있어서, 이름을 야곱이라고 하였다. 리브가가 이 쌍둥이를 낳았을 때에, 이삭의 나이는 예순 살이었다.
에서가 맏아들의 권리를 팔다
27두 아이가 자라, 에서는 날쌘 사냥꾼이 되어서 들에서 살고, 야곱은 성격이 차분한 사람이 되어서, 주로 집에서 살았다. 28이삭은 에서가 사냥해 온 고기에 맛을 들이더니 에서를 사랑하였고, 리브가는 야곱을 사랑하였다.
29한 번은, 야곱이 죽을 끓이고 있는데, 에서가 허기진 채 들에서 돌아와서, 30야곱에게 말하였다. “그 붉은 죽을 좀 빨리 먹자. 배가 고파 죽겠다.” 에서가 ‘붉은’ 죽을 먹고 싶어 하였다고 해서, 에서를 에돔이라고도 한다. 31야곱이 대답하였다. “형은 먼저, 형이 가진 맏아들의 권리를 나에게 파시오.” 32에서가 말하였다. “이것 봐라, 나는 지금 죽을 지경이다. 지금 나에게 맏아들의 권리가 뭐 그리 대단한 거냐?” 33야곱이 말하였다. “나에게 맹세부터 하시오.” 그러자 에서가 야곱에게 맏아들의 권리를 판다고 맹세하였다. 34야곱이 빵과 팥죽 얼마를 에서에게 주니, 에서가 먹고 마시고, 일어나서 나갔다. 에서는 이와 같이 맏아들의 권리를 가볍게 여겼다.
The Death of Abraham
1Abraham had taken another wife, whose name was Keturah. 2She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. 3Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Ashurites, the Letushites and the Leummites. 4The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.
5Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac. 6But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east.
7Abraham lived a hundred and seventy-five years. 8Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years; and he was gathered to his people. 9His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite, 10the field Abraham had bought from the Hittites. There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah. 11After Abraham’s death, God blessed his son Isaac, who then lived near Beer Lahai Roi.
Ishmael’s Sons
12This is the account of the family line of Abraham’s son Ishmael, whom Sarah’s slave, Hagar the Egyptian, bore to Abraham.
13These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14Mishma, Dumah, Massa, 15Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah. 16These were the sons of Ishmael, and these are the names of the twelve tribal rulers according to their settlements and camps. 17Ishmael lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. He breathed his last and died, and he was gathered to his people. 18His descendants settled in the area from Havilah to Shur, near the eastern border of Egypt, as you go toward Ashur. And they lived in hostility toward all the tribes related to them.
Jacob and Esau
19This is the account of the family line of Abraham’s son Isaac.
Abraham became the father of Isaac, 20and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram and sister of Laban the Aramean.
21Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. 22The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the Lord.
23The Lord said to her,
“Two nations are in your womb,
and two peoples from within you will be separated;
one people will be stronger than the other,
and the older will serve the younger.”
24When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. 25The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau. 26After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau’s heel; so he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them.
27The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was content to stay at home among the tents. 28Isaac, who had a taste for wild game, loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. 30He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.)
31Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.”
32“Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?”
33But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.
34Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left.
So Esau despised his birthright.
아브라함은 하나님에게 축복을 받아 오랜 횟수를 누리고 살고, 또한 부유하게 살다가 죽었다
그에게서 많은 후손들이 태어날 예정이었다. 왜냐하면 하나님께서 그렇게 약속하셨기 때문이다
이삭과 리브가의 아이에게서도 아이들이 나온다. 리브가의 아이는 쌍둥이였다. 하나는 에서 하나는 야곱이었다.
에서는 장자의 권리를 야곱에게 팔아버린다. 이는 가벼이 여길것이 아닌데도 말이다.
그러나 에서는 아마도 추상적인 것에는 관심이 없었던 모양이다. 지위라는것 같은것을.
형에게는 원래 더 큰 축복이 내려야했다. 그것이 형이기 때문인데 에서는 그것을 가볍게 여겼던것이다.
그리고 차분한 성격인 야곱이 형의 축복을 가지고 간다. 야곱은 추상적인것을 좀 더 깊게 여겼던 모양이다.
사람들은 겉으로 보이는 것, 혹은 지금 당장의 쾌락을, 더 아름다운 무언가보다 훨씬 중요하게 여기고는 하는것 같다.
나 또한 그런적이 많았다. 그냥 귀찮아서 qt를 짧게 끝내고 마는것과 같은것 말이다.
하나님의 명보다 내 쾌락을 즐기는 모든 일이 에서가 하는 짓과 같다
그러나 하나님께서는 이런 나를 용서해주시고 계신다. 정말로, 하나님같은 신이 신이라서 다행스러운 일이다.
만약 인간에게 두려움을 주는 신이었다면 아마 나는 이미 오래전에 소멸했을지도 모르겠다.
약한 사람들의 힘이 되어주시는 하나님
더더욱 하나님에게 의지하고 믿는 연습을 해야겠다고 생각한다.
